In addition to the quaint coziness and dreamlike location, it’s the culinary expertise of Franz Pernthaler that has made gastronomes the world-over recommend the Schatzer Lodge. The excellent menus, prepared every evening by the lodge’s chef for the guests, have to be compared with, but do not pale in comparison to, those that the majority of the so-called gourmet restaurants offer their diners. Ultimately he learned his upscale gastronomy craft, with star chef Heinz Winkler among others. And thus the chef ‘de Cuisine’ daily conjures up new Lucullian marvels based on traditional Tyrolean cuisine, and thereby is the freshness of his ingredients particularly close to heart. These ingredients and his creativity secure him over and over again the admiration of his guests. Since breakfast cannot be more beautifully imagined, whoever lodges here should grant himself the pleasure of half-board. With its freshly baked bread from the house’s own wood fired oven, in addition to the homemade marmalade and other goodies, the Schatzer Lodge breakfast provides a great start to the day. And on more tip: If you’ve been out hiking all day and return to the lodge feeling a bit parched, it is a must to ask for the elder lemonade – its more than worth it! |
