When the lodge was constructed in 1926 by the current operator´s grandfather, it was first only used for the summer cultivation of alpine grass found in the Schatzer yards. 27 years later, the Schatzer Lodge had already become a coveted destination for guests coming from places far exceeding the local borders. This can in large part be attributed to the already spectacular cuisine provided by “Schatzer Luis”, the uncle of the present-day innkeeper. In 1982 Franz Pernthaler took over the hideaway and 16 years later had the lodge renovated. With the renovation came rooms, sanitation facilities, as well as the kitchen, all of which was done with special care to preserve the lodge’s original and quaint character, while conforming to modern standards.
